For over three decades, I've walked alongside people through their most challenging transitions—divorce, loss, empty nest, career changes, and the profound question that arises in midlife: "Is this all there is?" If you're navigating one of life's thresholds right now, you're in the right place.
I’ve spent time as a Buddhist monk, received degrees in psychology and spirituality, and became a Board-Certified Chaplain. But what's actually prepared me for this work is walking through my own difficult passages and sitting with thousands of people through theirs.
What I've learned is that the midlife passage—roughly ages 45 to 60—is perhaps the most profound transition we go through, and our culture offers almost no support for it. We're told to stay young, keep going, not make a fuss. But something in you knows that this ending is also a beginning, and you need practices for crossing this threshold consciously.
That's what I offer. Not answers or quick fixes, but practices that work with difficulty rather than trying to eliminate it.
My work is rooted in the ancient wisdom of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of lojong, or lovingkindness, and adapted for the real challenges you're facing right now.

Move from automatic reactions to conscious responses through compassionate awareness.

Learn to meet vulnerability with courage, transforming the armor around your heart into genuine warmth and connection.

Receive personalized support through divorce, loss, career changes, and profound midlife questions.

Experience 35 years of expertise blending Tibetan Buddhist lojong with trauma-informed psychology.

Mark, a spiritual guidance counselor for 35 years, integrates Eastern and Western wisdom with his experience as a Buddhist monk. Author of If You Can't Let It Go, Work It Through and Choosing What’s Chosen You, he holds multiple degrees in psychology and spirituality. A Board-Certified Chaplain, he lives in Sacramento, CA, and cherishes his family.
"These classes gave me, brick by brick, the inner foundation, a true inner sanctuary for me to come from, and to return to. The feeling of returning home over and over again is spacious and warmly embracing. And oh, so deeply received. Working in a group may seem a little vulnerable at first, and you will be shown ways to work with your need for safety but also be able to share with others, and see our our connectedness and our need for connection as a gift."
With the support of Mark and the safe group setting, I learned to implement daily mindfulness practices with more awareness, helping me to change my own negative mental patterns. I found Mark's methods to be helpful in bringing me more peace, more lovingkindness, and morecompassion. Overall, I recognized that my own behaviors contributed to repetitive conflictingsituations, and learned to confidently move through the world with more peace.
I had been taught to equate love with self-sacrifice, but Mark helped me understand that truehealing starts with loving myself. He didn’t just tell me to fill my own cup - he showed me how. Mark helped me unlearn toxic patterns and replace them with compassion, curiosity, and self-trust. I’ve never felt more whole, more connected to my inner child and past selves, or moreconfident in who I am. Mark created a space where I could be raw, vulnerable, and real, andfrom there, he helped me transform. His presence is grounding, wise, and truly life-saving.
