Where you put your attention and what you dwell on makes a difference. Do you see your world as a cup half empty or half full? Is this perception bringing you happiness and fulfillment or just more wanting and suffering?
When you dwell on what you want, do you become unhappy? When you see what others have, do you want what they have? When you wonder why you do not have that, it makes you feel unhappy. For example, I never get what I want. Why is it that no one ever asks me what I want. It would have been nice if anyone ever asked me what I wanted. Why did they get this and I only got that? Why doesn’t anyone ever call me? These types of thoughts lead to unhappiness.
When you dwell on what you are grateful for, life feels enriched and you are happy. Example: I am so happy that Mom is still alive and that we get to have the Holidays with her. Even though the covid times, we are did our family visits by zoom. I am so happy that we got to see everyone even though it was by zoom.
Happiness or unhappiness you decide where you choose to put the focus of your mind.
