Mindfulness, Self-Growth, Stress Management

Do you have a habit that is hard to shake? Breaking habits always involves finding some way to interrupt the process. What is your cycle regarding this habit?

From bodily feelings, a cluster of thoughts, urges struggles, flirting with the edges, diving back into the pattern. Suppose you were to identify the zones from safe to dangerous. Where are you in the process? Up to what point can you interrupt the cycle? What form of interrupts works for you? Have you ever considered that your interior thought doesn’t have to be taken literally? Your interior thoughts can be related to the surfacing of your inner needs for yourself.

Free Yourself From Bad Habits

A relatively simple act of loving inclusion can be the key that you have been looking for. So how is it done? While there may be many ways of achieving this, this is my preferred method because it has worked for me for a long while. Mentally turn the eye of your mind to face where the voice is coming from; next, turn the ear of your heart to listen for the need that these thoughts represent; next, open your heart to this part of you that is in need; next, using good parenting words, speak to this part of you in an inclusive manner.

Free Yourself From Bad Habits

An example: a part of yourself is critical of you in a harsh and abusive manner. You turn your mind to face it. You open your heart to heart the need. You say things like sweetheart come here; I love you; you will always be a part of me; you are coming along for the whole journey of this lifetime. I am a responsible adult now. You only need to surface when you need me or remind me to be mindful of something; I appreciate and love you;  I will always take care of you, recognize your need for me, and lovingly include you in our (my) life.

Let this smaller part of yourself melt into your heart, and all is One again.
